Schierke is a excellent starting point for many walking and hiking routs e.g. to the mountain Brocken (a must trip that need 2,5 - 3 hours) or to start a steam engine trip from the Schierker steam engine railway station.

The railway station you can reach as well with the "witch express" that drives regularly as well to the centre of Schierke.

Around Schierke you will find 120Km very good marked walking paths.

We can recommend also trips to Wernigerode, Braunlage, Goslar, Thale, Treseburg, Rübeland, Blankenburg and Quedlienburg.
